Another set of impressive results which acknowledge the dedication and commitment to hard work demonstrated by King Alfred’s students over the last two years.
Headteacher Jonathan Smart was again delighted with the A Level and BTEC outcomes for our fantastic King Alfred’s Sixth Form students this year. Nearly 30% of the grades at A-Level were an A*or A, with over 50% of BTEC grades being a Distinction* or Distinction. ‘This is an impressive set of results for the academy. These outcomes match our great results from last year, and are a clear indication of the sustained and consistent academic success obtained by students who attend the Academy’s Sixth Form. Again, this year, King Alfred’s Academy is one of the highest performing Sixth Forms in the region. I would like to congratulate all the students on these impressive results, and thank the staff for their efforts over the last two years.’
‘These results will allow the vast majority of our students to go on to their first-choice destination, whether that be a university course and an apprenticeship. All of our Sixth Form students should be proud of the dedication and commitment shown throughout the two years of study. We wish them all the very best of luck for the future.
We have a diverse, exciting selection of destinations throughout the cohort, including apprenticeships, employment, training and Higher Education. Many have secured places at UK universities reading a wide range of subjects, including three going to Oxbridge, whilst others have secured fantastic apprenticeships in a range of global organisations. In many cases Level 3 BTEC qualifications at Distinction or Distinction* grade, sometimes taken alongside A-levels, have helped our students onto their first-choice courses.
As well as impressive overall results, we also had some outstanding individual performances with three students achieving A*A*A*A, over 30 students achieving at least one A*, and 90 students achieving at least one grade A.
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) has again proved to be a popular and successful qualification for many students at King Alfred’s, adding an extra element to their academic profile, with an incredible 75% of the grades at A* or A. Our EPQ successes show that this is a key element of the curriculum offer at King Alfred’s Sixth Form.
Head of Sixth Form, Pete Hogan said ‘It has been another fantastic academic year for our wonderful Sixth Form students and I am incredibly proud of the effort and focus these students have demonstrated over the whole two years, which have culminated in these fantastic results. We wish them all the very best for their future plans, and look forward to hearing about their successes as they move onto their next steps in life.’
