Folly View Primary School Celebrates Opening of New Sensory Garden

Pupils at Folly View Primary School are set to benefit from a vibrant new sensory garden, thanks to the generosity of the local community and partners.

The school is delighted to announce the completion of the garden, a calming and engaging outdoor space designed to support pupils’ wellbeing, learning and creativity. The project was made possible through a £1,500 grant from the Tesco Community Grants scheme, with funding awarded following votes from local shoppers with their blue tokens.

The school has extended its heartfelt thanks to the Tesco Faringdon store and the wider community, whose support reflects Folly View’s core values of community and belonging.

A significant contribution also came from Muddy Spades, led by Royston Oxendale. Royston and his team volunteered their time to construct bespoke planters and generously donated plants that will be enjoyed by pupils for years to come. Their efforts will also support the school’s gardening club, led by Miss Carrigan, giving children hands-on opportunities to nurture and care for the environment, building resilienceaspiration, and a strong sense of integrity.

The school would like to thank Royston, Joshua, Chris and Josh for their dedication and hard work. A huge thank you also goes to the school PTA who worked hard to put the blue token scheme in place, and finally to Miss Carrigan for her commitment to enriching pupils’ experiences. Their kindness exemplifies the values Folly View strives to instil in every child.

Richard Evans, CEO of Cambrian Learning Trust, said:
“This wonderful sensory garden is a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose. At Cambrian Learning Trust, we are proud to see Folly View Primary School bringing its core values of belonging, kindness and aspiration to life in such a meaningful way. This space will not only enhance pupils’ wellbeing but also inspire curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning.”

The sensory garden stands as a lasting symbol of collaboration and generosity, providing a peaceful and stimulating environment where pupils can explore, reflect and grow, both academically and personally.
