Shrivenham CE Primary School Celebrates New Trim Trail

Shrivenham Church of England Primary School is celebrating the official opening of its brand-new trim trail today, marking an exciting transformation of the school’s outdoor space following its move to a new building in 2024.

When the school relocated, the outdoor area offered a blank canvas. Determined to create an engaging and active environment for pupils, the school community came together to raise funds and secure grants to bring the vision to life.

Thanks to the incredible generosity and effort of supporters, the project was made possible through contributions from Faringdon Rotary Club (£1,000), Shrivenham Fete Committee (£500), a remarkable £2,250 raised by school staff who took part in the Great South Run, £1,000 from a Councillor Fund, and £5,250 from the Friends of Shrivenham School (FoSS).

The new trim trail provides pupils with a fun, challenging and physically engaging space to develop strength, coordination and confidence during playtimes and outdoor learning.

Headteacher Cora Williams said:
"We are absolutely delighted to see our trim trail come to life. Since moving into our new school, we have been so excited to develop our outdoor space, and this is a huge step forward. The children are already loving the opportunities it gives them to be active, challenge themselves and have fun together. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported us in making this happen."

CEO of Cambrian Learning Trust, Richard Evans added:
"This project is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when a school community comes together with a shared vision. We are committed to creating environments where children can thrive, not just academically but physically and socially too. The new trim trail reflects that commitment and will make a lasting difference to pupils’ wellbeing and development."

The installation of the equipment was a joyful occasion, with pupils eager to explore and celebrate the success of a project made possible through community spirit, determination and shared ambition.
