Folly View Primary School celebrates national accreditation for sustainable travel

Modeshift STARS is a nationally recognised accreditation programme supported by the Department for Transport. It celebrates schools that demonstrate excellence in encouraging active, safe and environmentally responsible travel through well-designed travel plans, ongoing initiatives and community-wide engagement.

At Folly View, a range of initiatives have contributed to this achievement, encouraging pupils and families to make more sustainable journeys to school. The accreditation reflects the school's commitment to healthier lifestyles, reducing traffic congestion and helping to create a greener, more sustainable community.

Head of School, Jo Baird, said:

“We are delighted to receive Modeshift STARS accreditation. It recognises the collective efforts of our pupils, staff and families in making more sustainable travel choices. At Folly View, our vision is to develop inclusive, caring and aspirational young people who are globally aware and make a positive difference to their world. Encouraging active and sustainable travel is a great way to bring that vision to life, helping our children understand how small everyday actions can have a positive impact on their health, their community and the environment.”

The school hopes this recognition will encourage even more families to consider walking, cycling or scooting to school, helping to create safer roads, cleaner air and a stronger sense of community.

Folly View plans to build on this achievement by continuing to promote active travel and exploring further opportunities to make sustainable journeys part of everyday school life.
