Cambrian Primary Maths Challenge puts teamwork and problem-solving to the test

More than 50 pupils from across Cambrian Learning Trust came together for an evening of mathematical challenges at the Trust’s third annual Primary Maths Challenge on Tuesday 20 October.

Organised by Cambrian Maths Lead Matthew Taylor, the event brought together 12 teams of Year 4 and Year 5 pupils to tackle fun mathematical puzzles, develop their teamwork and enjoy some friendly competition.

With competition fierce and the scores close at the top, congratulations go to Longcot & Fernham, who took first place, with Charlton finishing a close second and Millbrook securing third place.

Matthew Taylor said: “Our Primary Maths Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for children to put their mathematical skills into practice in a fun, team-based environment. It is wonderful to see pupils thinking creatively, supporting one another and rising to the challenge. Events like this bring our schools together and help children grow in confidence while developing a real enjoyment of learning.”

Cambrian Learning Trust would like to thank King Alfred’s for hosting the event and providing Sixth Form and staff volunteers, as well as colleagues from across its primary schools who gave up their evening to support their teams.
