The popular enrichment event saw Year 5 and Year 7 pupils representing their allocated countries in a range of athletic and team-based challenges, including running races, throwing and jumping events, tug-of-war and capture the flag.

Designed to bring pupils from different schools together, the event places the Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence at its heart. Throughout the day, pupils demonstrated outstanding collaboration, encouraging and supporting peers they had never met before while working together towards a common goal.

The annual Olympics forms an important part of Cambrian Learning Trust’s commitment to enrichment opportunities that help pupils develop beyond the classroom. The event reflects the Trust’s mission of “Nurturing Growth – Inspiring Minds” and its values of Integrity, Kindness, Ambition and Unity, providing young people with opportunities to build relationships, develop confidence and experience success through shared endeavour. The Trust’s vision is “To be a Beacon of Excellence”, and events such as this help pupils flourish both personally and socially.

They have supported other students that they had never met before and shown fantastic teamwork throughout the day. The event concluded with a celebration of the pupils’ achievements, with the Jamaica team crowned overall champions. Their victory was met with great excitement, bringing a memorable end to a day that showcased the power of sport to unite, inspire and build community across Cambrian Learning Trust schools.
