Previously Chair of the Vale Academy Trust, Beth became Vice Chair of CLT in February 2025.  Born and brought up in Glasgow, Beth studied Earth Sciences at Cambridge University, and then worked for the UK Department of Energy, the British National Oil Corporation, Los Alamos National Laboratory and the UK Atomic Energy Authority, where she became Head of Corporate Communications, later moving to the Institute of Physics as Director of Communications and International Relations.  In 2015-16, she chaired the UK National Committee for the International Year of Light.  From 2016-2018 Beth chaired the UK National Commission for UNESCO, the hub for all UNESCO designations in the UK including World Heritage Sites, Global Geoparks, Biosphere Reserves and University Chairs.
